Emmy Lupin's Lockdown Diary features illustrated moments of life under quarantine
To pass the time under lockdown, London-based freelance artist Emmy Smith has created an illustrated lockdown diary featuring the positives, mundane moments, highs and lows that are occurring right now.

Illustrated in a decorative style, with pastel colours and patterns, her artworks hope to bring a bit of joy and resonate with others who recognise themselves in these moments. "They include depictions of scenes such as writing letters to my nan, running outside, sunbathing inside, staring out of the window at night time, longing for a hug from a family member, and reading up on how to stay calm in a crisis," Emmy explains.
Emmy studied Advertising at Bournemouth University before working as an account manager for five years at independent design agencies. Two years ago, she launched Emmy Lupin Studio and became a self-taught freelance illustrator, opening an Etsy Shop to sell her art prints and postcards. Today, Emmy's clients include Stylist Magazine, Adobe, Aerie and Macmillan. Her first illustrated book, The Philosopher Queens, is published this July – and she's already working on another illustrated book, too.
How does the feel about her latest project? "It's helping me to get through this period of isolation, by documenting these moments to share and in time look back on. It's also testing my ability to tell a story through an illustration, and I hope that others can see this and feel an affinity with it."
