This is like Hartbeat for adults. A series that includes masterclasses, top tips on how to get started with art, inspiration to get your creative juices flowing and most importantly, show you how to have fun and make an artistic mess whilst in lockdown.
Grayson will also reveal the story of Alan Measles, his childhood teddy bear, and the source of inspiration for much of his art. He will be making a sculptured figure of Alan, following his progress throughout the series. The finished sculpture will then be displayed in the final exhibition of lockdown artwork (along with members of the public and guests) after the coronavirus isolation ends.
Each episode of Art Club will be themed, and Grayson is asking all of us to send in artwork responding to each theme. Celebrity guests will also be creating art in keeping with the week's theme, which promises some surprising results. Grayson will speak to a high-profile artist each episode to find out what they have been inspired to create during the coronavirus period.
Over the first four episodes, guests include comedian Joe Lycett along with artist Chantal Joffe; Harry Hill and British painter and sculptor Maggi Hambling CBE; actress Jessica Hynes and British sculptor Sir Antony Gormley, and Jim Moir and British visual artist Tacita Dean.
The series will culminate with artwork made in isolation from members of the public and celebrities alike, that will then form the basis of Grayson's exhibition which chronicles Britain's mood and creativeness in isolation. Grayson's Art Club starts Monday 27 April at 8pm on Channel 4.
