Figma is where teams brainstorm, prototype, translate designs into code and iterate with AI, with a mission to make design accessible to all. Community and education sit at the centre of the company.
Figma is hiring a Motion Designer for its Product Education team. You will use your knowledge of Figma, design and teaching methods to help users adopt the platform, explaining complex topics clearly to junior and prospective designers. Day to day, that means creating guided video tutorials for Figma's YouTube channel and working with other departments on additional video content. Figma is looking for a passionate educator and collaborator who is curious, communicates well and pays close attention to detail, and who is comfortable teaching beginner designers and developers in a supportive way.
This is a full-time role that can be based at one of Figma's US hubs (San Francisco or New York) or fully remote within the United States.
What you'll be doing
- Manage end-to-end video production, from initial concept through final delivery and publication on YouTube
- Work with Education Designers and Content Strategists on concise scripts, and record voiceovers
- Generate video ideas, record audio and video, create visual assets, animate, edit, write descriptions and publish to YouTube
- Produce eye-catching motion graphics, animations and transitions that enhance screen recordings
- Partner with Product and Engineering to understand how new and existing features work and what user problems they solve
- Coordinate with Marketing, Brand, Community and Growth to position content around new feature launches
- Define key success metrics, perform lightweight analytics and engage with users in video comments
What we're looking for
- Experience animating educational content for SaaS products and features
- A proven ability to make content that is clear, concise, approachable and accessible
- A knack for finding the best way to teach complex concepts, and a willingness to drop approaches that don't work
- A track record of creative, collaborative brainstorming on new projects
- A commitment to democratising design and development, and making career paths accessible to everyone
Figma encourages you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every point, in keeping with its value "Grow as you go".
What's on offer
- Annual base salary of US$105,000 – US$183,000; actual pay and job level depend on factors such as qualifications assessed at interview, the potential impact and scope of the role, market conditions and work location
- Full-time, hub-based or remote within the US
- Equity
- Health, dental and vision coverage
- Retirement benefits with company contributions
- Parental leave and reproductive or family planning support
- Mental health and wellness benefits
- Paid time off, including paid sick leave, holidays and other legally required leave; flexible paid PTO for exempt employees (subject to manager approval)
- Annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles
- Possible extras including company recharge days, mobile phone and home internet reimbursement, and lifestyle spending accounts
- Candidates must keep cameras on during video interviews, and new hires attend in-person onboarding
