The role
A social media manager post at Jam, an integrated communications agency in Manchester whose clients include luxury travel, financial services and property brands. You would run client social accounts day to day, working closely with the Social Media Account Director and mentoring more junior colleagues as the agency grows. The job does not involve shooting or editing content yourself; it is about knowing what should be made, why, for which platform and to what end.
What you'll do
- Plan business-as-usual social activity around three months ahead, leaving space for reactive opportunities
- Build content calendars based on audience, platform and sector insight
- Get to know clients, their industries, competitors and audiences
- Stay expert in Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube, and keep up with new platforms, features, trends and algorithm changes
- Write social copy, captions and hooks
- Turn ideas into clear briefs for creators, designers, photographers and videographers
- Check creative work for platform-native quality before it goes to clients
- Plan, manage, monitor and optimise paid social campaigns
- Run influencer and creator activity from research and outreach to briefing, delivery and reporting
- Oversee community management and use audience interaction as a source of content ideas
- Own monthly reporting that explains what happened, why, and what comes next
- Lead day-to-day client communication, meetings, feedback and amends, giving confident advice on social and pushing back when needed
- Keep accounts organised, planned ahead and running smoothly
- Support and mentor junior team members
About you
- Around three to five years of experience in social media or digital marketing, ideally at an agency
- Strong experience in both organic and paid social, including audiences, targeting, objectives, budgets, placements and creative
- Excellent knowledge of the main social platforms
- Experience of contributing to social strategies and turning them into activity
- Strong content planning and organisation
- Strong copywriting
- Experience of briefing creative teams
- Confident reading data and producing client reports that mean something
- Experience of managing influencer or creator activity
- Strong client communication
- Commercial awareness, including scopes, hours and budgets
- Initiative, curiosity and ideas
- The agency describes the people it looks for as humble, hungry and smart
- Desirable: management or mentoring experience
- Nice to have: iPhone or camera skills
What's on offer
- Hybrid working, with two days a week in the Manchester office and the rest from home
- Training budget of £1,500 per person each year
- Dog-friendly office
- Regular socials and team days
- Opportunities to learn, develop and progress
- A collaborative team in which ideas can come from anyone
