The role
A lead product design post in Monzo's Growth collective, focused on the web experiences through which people find out about Monzo before they open the app. The work combines visual and interaction design with data, experimentation and customer insight. It sits within a Design team of more than 115 people led by the Chief Design Officer, and can be based in the London office or done remotely within the UK with occasional London meetings. Previous experience in a growth team is not needed.
What you'll do
- Lead the design of high-quality web experiences for new and existing customers
- Use quantitative and qualitative data to spot opportunities and guide design decisions
- Turn problems into hypotheses, run experiments and act on what they show
- Produce visual and interaction design that is recognisably Monzo
- Work through complex, ambiguous problems, balancing customer, business and technical needs
- Set longer-term product direction across whole journeys as well as individual experiments
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data and Research
- Use AI in the design workflow, including ideas, analysis, prototyping and shipping code
- Judge when speed of experimentation matters more and when polish does
- Mentor others and share work across the Design team
About you
- A proven record of designing high-quality web experiences, with a portfolio showing strong visual and interaction design craft
- Comfortable using data to inform design decisions, working with data scientists or analysts to understand customer behaviour and measure the impact of your work
- Able to connect great customer experiences with measurable outcomes, and understand how design contributes to wider product and commercial goals
- Comfortable forming hypotheses, experimenting with different approaches and adapting your thinking as you learn
- Able to balance speed and experimentation with a high bar for craft, knowing when to prototype quickly and when to invest in an exceptional final experience
- A natural collaborator who can bring Product, Engineering, Data, Research and other partners together around complex customer problems
- Thrive in ambiguity and can create clarity and direction when the answer isn't obvious
- Comfortable thinking beyond a single screen or experiment, connecting work across journeys and helping shape a longer-term vision
- A role model who contributes to the growth of the Design team through mentoring, feedback and sharing expertise
- Excited about Monzo's mission to make money work for everyone and about helping more people discover Monzo
